REASEL INITIATIVE · EXPLORATORY SURVEY

Characterizing cardiac arrest in pediatric perioperative care

We seek a general understanding of which patients experience these events, when they occur, their probable causes or mechanisms, and their outcomes.

One response represents one directly treated event.

Purpose and scope

An initial regional description, not a measurement of frequency.

Available information mainly comes from registries and health systems that may not fully represent clinical and care conditions in Latin America. REASEL promotes this survey to identify patterns that can guide subsequent research, education and care-improvement projects.

01

What do we seek to understand?

  • General clinical characteristics of the patient.
  • Procedure and anesthetic technique related to the event.
  • Perioperative timing, initial rhythm and probable cause.
  • Resuscitation, known outcome and contributing factors.
02

Who can participate?

Anesthesiology professionals who directly participated in treating a perioperative cardiac arrest in a patient under 18.

To report another case, complete the survey again.

03

What cannot be concluded?

  • Does not calculate incidence or prevalence.
  • Is not a census or population registry.
  • Does not compare hospitals, states, countries or professionals.
  • Does not establish causality.

Information and privacy

Voluntary participation and aggregate analysis.

The survey does not request names, email addresses, hospitals, cities, record numbers or exact dates. Do not include information identifying the patient, professional or institution.

REASEL coordinates this initiative and uses Typeform to receive responses. Results will be analyzed and communicated exclusively in aggregate form.

Your experience can provide context

Findings will describe only the reported cases, not the frequency of cardiac arrest in the population.
