Intraoperative chain of survival

Original publication title (Spanish): Cadena de supervivencia unificada para el paro cardíaco intraoperatorio

Rafael Eduardo Herrera-Elizalde

Proposes a chain of survival adapted to the perioperative environment, where arrest is usually witnessed and monitored and requires integrating resuscitation, diagnosis and correction of the cause.

Main contribution

This work proposes a chain adapted to the intraoperative setting. Reading it allows examination of how team preparation, the response to arrest and continuity of care can be connected. It must be presented as the author’s contribution: this page does not make that proposal a chain officially adopted by all guidelines.

The RCUK 2025 recommendations emphasize preparation, communication, monitoring and interprofessional training in the operating room. That context supports the editorial topic but does not automatically validate every component of the proposal.
